I have had the extreme pleasure of working with Laura Gershater on a professional basis for over a year after, in May of 2019, our nine thousand square foot home in Manalapan was struck by lightning one night while my wife and I were out for dinner. We returned home to the scene of smoke, flames and fire trucks pouring thousands of gallons of water through a charred and gaping hole in our roof.
As a result, most of the wood flooring, drywall, carpeting, cabinetry, and furniture on both floors of the home were either destroyed by water or damaged by smoke. By the following morning the house was a disaster. Smoke still permeated the house, and much of the wood materials were already starting to warp. While we were fortunate no one was injured, most of the house was a tragic loss and the majority of it needed to be gutted down to brass tacks. Servpro was the company we used for our renovation, and it was they who recommended Laura G. Designs to us.
Laura Gershater was a lifesaver! She stepped in immediately and was tireless in her efforts to help us. In the past we have had experience with designers on other projects who simply did not deliver. Not so with Laura! Always organized and professional, she assisted us step by step in selecting new furniture, carpeting, wallpaper, and other materials for our home. We found her patient, attentive, and never over-bearing when it came down to helping us make design decisions regarding our home. Her knowledge and experience were extremely valuable as she helped us choose all the fabrics, colors and finishes.
She has many resources in the industry - and she makes it all fun! We were also impressed by the generous amount of time Laura spent with us. She accompanied us to furniture retailers, cabinet showrooms, lighting stores, etc., and gave great suggestions. Laura is extremely reliable, always follows through on her word, and communicated very well with us about the status of our orders and on the project as a whole. We are so happy with the results of our collaboration with Laura Gershater! She is an exceptional person and a delight to work with, and we would highly recommend her for whatever endeavor she chooses to take on. She was invaluable in helping us re-create our beautiful new home in Manalapan, Florida.
